Text is a very common and flexible way of presenting data in multimedia. Text can contain many characters including letters, numbers, symbols or punctuation and can also be used in all types of multimedia. Text can be used in headings, content, labels, captions, menus and navigation. Two commonly used types of font are Serif and Sans-Serif fonts. Although they share a similar name, they have various differences.

- The font you are reading is an example of San-Serif font, this is because the letters smooth and have no tails (serifs). 

- This is an example of a serif font. The letters are less smooth than san-serif font and contain small tails (serifs).

Audio is very benefitial and effective in Multimedia. When executed properly, audio can be very effective in complementing a multimedia project. The different types of audio that can be used include sound effects and music. Below is an example of audio that was sampled from Orion (Metallica). It was edited on audicity to two semi-tones lower and 8.991 Hz lower than the original track. A fade effect was also added at the end of the audio to make it less abrupt.

Graphics are very common and also very benefitial in multimedia. When relevent graphics are chosen and are effectively placed, they can significantly enhance a mulitmedia project. Graphics come in two forms, image and video. These again can be differentiated using their format. Different formats include: GIF, MP4, JPEG, AVI, FLV, and PNG. Images can also be edited. This includes morphing which is refers to the smooth combining or mixing of one image with another. Below are two images that have been edited Adobe Bridge and Adobe Photoshop.

Animation and video are also frequently used in Multimedia. Animation and video allow a visual representation of the content and can also be used to complement and further enhance the project. Although they may seem similar, animation and video are quite different. Animation is the illusion of movement created by a series of images whilst video is a continuous flow of sound and graphics which can then be divided into frames. Below is an example of a video that has been rotoscoped using Adobe After Effects.

In multimedia, interactivity is the communication between an individual and a computer program. Interactivity is very important in multimedia for several reasons. Interactivity allows for an immersive experience, it gives the audience a sense of control, and it allows the audience to choose what they want to view.
