Timeline of Before and After Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was Built

     The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus was some sort of tomb for Mausolus the king of Halicarnassus, Greece (now Bodrum, Turkey). Artemisia was Mausolus's wife/sister after his death she was heart-broken. She hired the most talented artists to create the most magnificent tomb in the world.The Mausoleum at Halcarnassus was made up of marble. 

Description of Mausoleum at Halicarnassus 

 Lions made of stone guarded the stairway up to the tomb. The building by itself was 140 feet high. The bottom third was solid marble. The middle third contained Greek columns. The top third was a pyramid. On the very top was a large stone sculpture showing Mausolus and Artemisia standing side by side in a chariot. The whole thing took many years to build.

   The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus is now destroyed. It was destroyed by an earthquake.
