Shared Conclusions

Each case study led to individual conclusions but as a professional learning community the group also reached a variety of shared understandings about the nature of a balanced reading program. Having inquired into and evaluated their own classroom practice there was a clear sense of what all the teachers now felt were essential elements of balance that promoted PASSION, POWER and POTENTIAL. After discussion it was agreed that the best way to share these conclusions with the wider ESF teaching community was through six key statements (about what a balanced program is and is not) and questions for teachers to consider in light of all four case studies.
